  12. Regarding Halloween this year:

    Each year Ridgepointe Dental in The Colony, has a project to support the deployed troops. Ridgepointe buys back candy from children and parents at $1.00 per pound, packages the candy and sends it to deployed troops, the name of the program is, OPERATION GRATITUDE. Bring your unopened candy to Ridgepointe on November 1st or 2nd from 8 AM to 6 PM at 4200 Main st. For more information call 469-464- 5929.

    an change a veteran in fundamental ways. Emotional, spiritual, social, and moral injuries they have sustained impact them throughout their lifetime, especially as they face death. This presentation will sensitize participants with the unique needs of veterans as they age and face the end of their lives. Join Deborah Grassman, author of Peace at Last: Stories of Hope and Healing for Veterans and Their Families, for a presentation you won’t want to miss.

    Ms. Grassman is an RN who has done extensive work among veterans facing terminal illness, particularly through the Veteran’s Administration System. Plan to attend this afternoon session and learn more about the unique needs facing our veterans as they confront the end-of-life.

  17. Any veterans interested in seasonal work during the upcoming holiday season should strongly consider attending a FedEx recruiting event hosted by JCEP (Job Connection Education Program).

    You need to pre-register, and the first date is today, however there will be a second FedEx recruiting event on Wed. Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grand Prairie Armed Forces Reserve Center at 397 Armed Forces Dr. Bldg # 8300, Grand Prairie, TX 75051 (it's at the corner of 3200 Jefferson and 300 Camden Road).

  20. On Oct. 25 (Thursday), Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans will be offering free legal advice for veterans and their spouses from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. They'll offer advice related to a number of topics including divorce or custody, child support, landlord/tenant problems, etc.
