APS Schools have been in session for only a week and already several accidents have occurred involving students and rush hour commuters near the NW Education Corridor.

Rescue Unit for Station 8

City Councilors Don Harris and Rey Garduño have introduced a bill that would fund a rescue unit for Fire Station 8, located in the Foothills. The bill, which will come before the Council at its Sept. 9 meeting, would allocate $380,000 from the photo enforcement fund to establish the rescue unit.

City Councilor Debbie O’Malley will introduce legislation on Monday to dedicate $20 million from the City of Albuquerque’s quarter-cent Transportation Infrastructure Tax for the design and construction of I-25 and Paseo del Norte Interchange improvements and the development of an arterial street over the Domingo Baca Arroyo.

Councilors Plan to Put Event Center to A Public Vote

City Councilors Isaac Benton and Debbie O’Malley plan to introduce legislation to ask voters whether the City should move forward with building the proposed Event Center Complex. The Complex is slated to include a 550-room headquarters hotel, a 10-11,000 seat Events Center, retail and residential development, and a tie-in to the Convention Center and Rail Runner station at the Alvarado Transportation Center.
