Excerpted from CAPITAL NEW YORK: Rep. Peter King has launched a leadership PAC called American Leadership Now to support Republican candidates who share King’s non-Tea Party vision for the GOP.

“It’s a vehicle that will enable me to go around the country to try to find like-minded Republicans who do not support a government shutdown, who do not support Ted Cruz’s whole idea of a government shutdown, of Rand Paul being isolationist,” King told the Associated Press.

King, who regularly considers running for higher office, has floated the idea of running for president in 2016 as a counterweight to more conservative candidates.
