Miley Cyrus gets candid on Liam Hemsworth split: ‘I was so scared of ever being alone’ 

The 21-year-old singer sat down with Barbara Walters for her annual ‘10 Most Fascinating People’ TV special and spoke in detail about her broken engagement.

Miley Cyrus has landed a spot on Barbara Walters annual TV special featuring the "10 Most Fascinating People" of the year.

Cyrus, who certainly sparked enough buzz in 2013 to make the cut, sat down with the famous journalist and candidly opened up about her broken engagement with "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think conquering that fear this year was actually bigger than any other transition that I had this entire year, "she explained.

"I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."

The young Hollywood couple dated for four years after meeting on the set of “The Last Song” and Cyrus admitted that even though she happily accepted the 3.5-carat diamond engagement ring from Hemsworth, that they may have rushed into such a big commitment.

"I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," she said.

"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years, but now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."

Cyrus' chart-topping album, "Bangerz," has several tracks on it referring to her heartbreak over the past year.

In the song entitled "Drive," the 21-year-old singer belts out, "I was crazy, thinking you were mine, it was all just a lie."

However, the former “Hannah Montana” starlet told Walters, "I don't think there was any, any lies" in her relationship with the 23-year-old actor.

Cyrus was then asked if she would ever consider getting married in the future.

“I think I'll want that in the times that it needs to be,” she replied.

The most recent rumors surrounding the pop star's love life broke over the weekend when she seen hugging rapper French Montana on Friday after her performance at Z100's Jingle Ball in New York City.

Cyrus took to Twitter to immediately shoot down the reports.

"Don’t hug your friends goodbye unless you wanna be rumored "dating," she wrote to her 16 million followers on Sunday.

"I wanna think more of the world but people just keep proving their stupidity," she added.

"Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.
