NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL MORTALITY SURVEILLANCE (NOMS)

NIOSH’s National Occupational Mortality Surveillance (NOMS) program is a federal-state partnership that monitors changes in cause of death by usual occupation or industry in the United States.

How NOMS makes a difference

NOMS protects workers by evaluating the patterns of different causes of death by occupation and industry. Looking at these data, we can (1) identify potential new risks, or (2) confirm that previously identified associations still exist, and (3) suggest studies or interventions to prevent them.
