Brandon Allen signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday that includes an invite to spring training.

While Allen has done some damage in parts of seven seasons at Triple-A, posting an .874 OPS and 109 homers, he's never played more than 52 games in any of his four major-league seasons. His last major-league appearance came in 2012, and he will likely serve merely as an organizational depth piece for the Reds if he sticks around beyond spring training.

Tim Melville signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday that includes an invite to spring training.

His lone season in the Tigers' organization was largely forgettable, as Melville went 7-10 with a 4.63 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 27 starts for Triple-A Toledo, though those numbers were a significant improvement on his from Double-A the year before. Still just 26, Melville may have an outside shot at a rotation spot on a young Reds staff, but his signing seems to be primarily for depth.

Lefty David Price has agreed to a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

The Red Sox struggled to find an ace last season, so they went out and paid for one this offseason, inking one of the top two starting pitchers on the market to a hefty contract. Price, who went 18-5 with a 2.45 ERA and 225 strikeouts with the Tigers and Blue Jays last season, will remain in the AL East and is on track to start Opening Day.

JC Ramirez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cincinnati Reds which includes an invitation to spring training.

Ramirez appeared in 20 games between the Mariners and the Diamondbacks this season, recording a 5.32 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 23.2 innings. The 27-year-old did pitch well in Triple-A last season (2.72 ERA in 43 innings) so he could earn a spot with the Reds during spring training, but he's unlikely to pitch in enough high-leverage innings to become fantasy relevant.

Brian Goodwin is hitting an impressive .356/.444/.535 through 27 games for Bravos de Margaritas of the Venezuelan Winter League, MLB.com reports.

He's fallen off the prospect radar over the last couple of season and got passed up by Michael Taylor on the Nats' depth chart at center field, but at 25 years old there might still be time for Goodwin to revive his flagging fortunes. He'll need to bring the momentum he's building up in Venezuela forward into the spring to put himself back in the Nats' big league plans, however.

Joe Ross is one of the top internal candidates to fill the two openings in the Nats' rotation in 2016, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.

Ross and Tanner Roark would replace Jordan Zimmermann and Doug Fister in the rotation as things stand, although GM Mike Rizzo could still bring in another starter through trade or free agency, and a big spring from a prospect like Lucas Giolito could create a job battle. Ross had a successful major league debut last year, posting a 2.80 ERA and 47:4 K:BB ratio through his first seven big league starts (45 innings) before fading late.

Gary Harris (concussion) sat out of practice Tuesday, and is unlikely to play Wednesday against the Bulls, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Although Harris claimed he's feeling better, after suffering the concussion last Friday during the Denver Nuggets ' loss to the Spurs, he should be considered doubtful to be ready for Wednesday's contest. In Harris' potential absence, expect Randy Foye to remain filling in the starting lineup at shooting guard, along with Will Barton taking on an expanded role for the time being.

Tony Wroten (knee) could return to the Philadelphia 76ers ' lineup in the next 8-10 days, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Wroten had previously suggested a Dec. 11 return date against the Pistons, which could turn out to be the case. His minutes will be limited from the get-go, however, as he continues to ease his way back from a torn ACL suffered last January. Wroten's status should be monitored throughout the week to determine his fantasy relevance upon his return.

Chris Paul (ribs) is considered questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Pacers, Dan Woike of the Orange County Register reports.

Paul is dealing with inflamed rib cartilage after leaving Monday's game against the Trailblazers with the injury, which is expected to be minor. If he's unable to play Wednesday, expect Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford to see increased roles, while Paul likely wouldn't miss any time past that barring a setback.

Nerlens Noel (knee) will play Tuesday against the Lakers, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Noel had been dealing with knee soreness, which kept him out of Sunday's matchup against the Grizzlies, but he's expected to return to the lineup Tuesday. Jakarr Sampson will supposedly remain the starter, however, while Noel provides limited minutes off the bench.

Ty Lawson recorded 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-3 3Pt), grabbed three rebounds, and handed out three assists over 19 minutes off the bench in Monday's loss to the Pistons.

For one of the few times all season, Lawson showcased a reliable three-point stroke, but he'll need to do that with more consistency in the games to come before he makes a serious run at taking back the starting point guard job. Lawson will continue to play behind Patrick Beverley until further notice.

Donatas Motiejunas (back) has been cleared to practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.

It appears Motiejunas' return is on the horizon, as he'll be available to practice with the Houston Rockets Wednesday. If Motiejunas is able to participate fully in practice for a few days without any setbacks, there's a possiblity he'll be able to return to game action when the team embarks on a road trip early next week to take on the Nets and Wizards. The power forward will compete alongside Terrence Jones and Clint Capela for minutes upon his return.

Jaccob Slavin was reassigned to AHL Charlotte on Tuesday.

Slavin notched his first point of his NHL career with an assist against the Rangers on Monday. The 21-year-old rookie has skated in six contests this season for Carolina. Ryan Murphy will be taking Slavin's spot on the roster.

Ryan Murphy has been recalled from AHL Charlotte.

Murphy had been dealing with a concussion, but was able to get into two games with the minor-league club ahead of the call-up, notching a goal and two assists. He's a depth defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes .

Sami Vatanen recorded an assist on Rickard Rakell's power play marker in Monday's home win against the Canucks.

The point gives Vatanen 14 in 25 games this season, five of which have the come in the last four games. As the Anaheim Ducks are finally beginning to show signs of life offensively this season, Vatanen should be a good bet to once again finish in the 35-40 point range, as he did last season.

Reto Berra will be between the pipes in Tuesday's game against the Devils, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports.

Berra has been terrible of late, posting an 0-4-0 record with a 4.76 GAA and .838 save percentage in his last four appearances. He'll look to get back on track Tuesday against a Devils club that hasn't been great offensively this season, averaging just 2.35 goals scored per game, ninth worst in the NHL.

Rickard Rakell notched his sixth goal of the season on Monday against Vancouver.

Rakell appears to be loving life riding shotgun with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. Of his six goals this season, five have come in the month of November, which he has spent most of playing left wing on the first line. Rakell might still be hanging around on waivers in your league, so if you're looking for some scoring help, give the young Swede a shot.

Corey Perry scored his eighth of the season in Monday's 4-0 win over the Canucks.

His goal around the midway mark of the third helped to seal a victory for his team at home, their sixth of the season at Honda Center. After going goalless throughout the month of October, Perry now has eight goals and six assists in 14 games in November, numbers we're more accustomed to seeing from the former Hart Trophy winner. Now that his early season slump is officially over, use Perry as you normally would.
