Stunning Display, Outstanding Performance
I can say; Nexus 5 is not all about the phone itself, the fuss around it comes from +Android   #KitKat  and its super polished #design and optimized #performance ... Everything's bigger, better and faster! :-)   

Someone please convince me to buy a Nexus 5 over a Note 3. Keep in mind the following -

1. Price is not an issue at this point.

2. I don't care too much about the pure Google experience and updates since developers working on various AOSP based roms will get that done anyways.

So why then should I buy the Nexus 5? Is there something I'm missing here?

I don't know what this means or what app it is trying to update. Earlier today I received this toast message on my Nexus 4. I have no clue what app is trying to update. I've never seen this message before or one like it. I wasn't sure if it was some kind of virus or spam so I clicked later. Now I cannot find that message or any apps that say they needed updating. Can anyone enlighten me on what this may possibly be? Thanks for the help.

So, I fuckin' LURVED my Nexus 4 (a gift from +***** in june) until someone wandered off with it in Phoenix at the beginning of last month. I went all Taken on the phone-nappers, told them about my very specific set of skills, met a lot of eastern bloc ne'er-do-wells and punched them to death, etc. But EVEN AFTER putting a nice note offering a reward on all the doors at the apartment building where Android Device Manager had led me, I didn't get my N4 back. And Google stopped selling them a couple days before mine vanished.

Been squinting at my good ol' HTC Doubleshot for the last 4 weeks. I put the best ICS rom I could find on there and it runs solidly, though slowly. It's this one, if you're somehow in the same boat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912582

Anyway, I bought a Nexus 5 several minutes after it went on sale Thursday, and it's supposed to show up tomorrow, so if you're SICK AND TIRED of me not posting photospheres all the time, sweet respite comes soon to this very g+ feed.

I think I have become obsessed with my phones battery life

The last few weeks I have been trying to track down why it appears to drain battery so very fast at times, with Google Play Services seemingly using a LOT of battery. After finding an XDA thread regarding NlpWakeLock and NlpCollectorWakeLock, I have uninstalled Google Search and Google Play Services entirely via Titanium Backup (including the files in the /system/app location) and reinstalled both of these from the Play Store

Battery life looks to have improved a fair bit - I am currently sitting  at 2hr 4min screen-on time, 14hr 34min on battery, WiFi on for 10hr 32min (it automatically powers off after long durations of inactivity overnight) - and 48% battery remaining. LTE is disabled, HSPA is in use instead, and NFC is enabled so long as the screen is on (including when locked, thanks to a lovely XPosed module)

This looks to be a fair bit better, however I am still seeing Google Play Services maintain a large number of wake locks... NlpWakeLock has, in the past 14.5 hours, held a wake lock 1276 times. Maybe its just me, but that seems a fair bit excessive.... roughly 88 times per hour it is keeping a wake-lock, but only for very very short periods (1m 30s total, according to Wake Lock Detector). Now, Im not saying that this is still using a lot of battery... but should it really be creating wake locks so regularly? The service relates to network location (Nlp = Network location provider), however I don't see any reason that it needs THAT many wake locks, being created even remotely that regularly

Is there anyone more knowledgeable on the matter able to give some insight into this?

Edit: This is on a HTC One XL, running the official Sense5/Android 4.2.2 ROM which is rooted with XPosed installed (and the HTC One camera app) but otherwise stock, with Beastmode kernel
