Bluetooth pairing experiments with Google Glass, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and G37x

Glass paired to Nexus 5 AND Nexus 7 (same Google account for all three). Nexus 5 also paired to the car.

What do you think should happen AND will happen?

All three on WiFi during the experiment since I was in my Garage.

On the road, Nexus 5 is on T-Mobile and Nexus 7 is on Verizon.

Glass on Bluetooth via Nexus 5 or Nexus 7? Nexus 5 headset via Glass or via the G37x?

hmmm... because bluetooth is spread spectrum channel hopping/gfsk perhaps using wifi to share data across devices would be desirable.

Nexus 5 Hands-On Impressions, Blackberry Comeback, and Government Spying

It was a packed episode of +Status Update

+Jared Weseman  gave a solid one hour overview of the Nexus 5 and KitKat and what it means for the future of Android. What is camera quality really like?

Blackberry did a 180 this week and decided not to sell. Instead, they bring on a new CEO to try and turn around the company, is there any hope?

And if you could buy anything online consistently, what would it be? +General Motors  wants you to buy cars online. Does that make sense?

Check it out, let us know what you think!

So, I fuckin' LURVED my Nexus 4 (a gift from +***** in june) until someone wandered off with it in Phoenix at the beginning of last month. I went all Taken on the phone-nappers, told them about my very specific set of skills, met a lot of eastern bloc ne'er-do-wells and punched them to death, etc. But EVEN AFTER putting a nice note offering a reward on all the doors at the apartment building where Android Device Manager had led me, I didn't get my N4 back. And Google stopped selling them a couple days before mine vanished.

Been squinting at my good ol' HTC Doubleshot for the last 4 weeks. I put the best ICS rom I could find on there and it runs solidly, though slowly. It's this one, if you're somehow in the same boat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912582

Anyway, I bought a Nexus 5 several minutes after it went on sale Thursday, and it's supposed to show up tomorrow, so if you're SICK AND TIRED of me not posting photospheres all the time, sweet respite comes soon to this very g+ feed.

IMHO The Galaxy Nexus is to date the best Android Phone ever made. If I hadn't dropped mine I would still be using it. Petition #Google  to upgrade it to KitKat.

Sadly though, something got efff'd up on my account on Google's end. I can't load any contacts in Glass or share to G+, and I can't use Google Now at all on the Nexus 5. :( So sad since I want to play with my new toys. The Glass team is looking into it and getting back to me. The devices work great under other accounts, but it's not the same without my main one...

Decided to finally man up and unlock, root, and flash KitKat to my Nexus 4.. Greatest decision I EVER made!! I was so lost but I utilized Google and figured it out instead of bugging the community lol. And on that note, eh, the Nexus 5 can wait.

If Google wants a reference device that is going to service the Android community well, then they need to go where the market volume is. The glory is in the high-end, singing and dancing smartphones with HD screens, detailed cameras, and superfast data connections,  but the bulk of sales are built on much cheaper devices, which are constrained by processor speed, RAM, and storage. Which is why Google needs a low-end 'Nexus 3'.

I want the phone sooner but even if I decide to order it it would come in around the same time. Getting it from T-Mobile means I can join the Jump program!

Someone please convince me to buy a Nexus 5 over a Note 3. Keep in mind the following -

1. Price is not an issue at this point.

2. I don't care too much about the pure Google experience and updates since developers working on various AOSP based roms will get that done anyways.

So why then should I buy the Nexus 5? Is there something I'm missing here?

Nexus 5 sample pics. All but the steak plate are HDR+ setting. Unaltered otherwise. Sooooooo much better than the camera on the HTC One IMO!

If new Android features are going to be restricted to new Nexus devices even though they run fine on everything else, then I might be done with the Nexus line, maybe Android as a whole.

I own a Nexus 4, 7 (2012), 7(2013), and 10. I've started dabbling with development. I am active in one of Google's developer groups.

Please continue to make features like the new launcher work on all stock Nexus devices.

I specifically mean the Google Experience launcher. It runs fine on everything I own, and its already optimized for phones like the Nexus 4.

Welcome home, Nexus 5

Another Nexus joined the ranks, so I had to gather the family for an updated group photo.

So I got my Nexus 5 yesterday. Have to say I am pretty impressed so far. Hardware feels great, the design is beautiful, speed is silky smooth, beautiful display, KitKat update is really polished and it really feels like a premium device.

But within 24 hours I have already found a few things I am unhappy with, some with my particular device itself and some LG hardware.

Dead Pixel - within the first 5 seconds of turning on my brand new Nexus 5 I have a dead pixel. Now it is only 1 tiny dot and the top of my screen and I have tried using pixel software to flush it out. But the point is that a brand new device shouldn't have this. My other problem is that Google don't exactly have a a store in every shopping center so trying to return it won't be so simple or worth the effort for something so small. Hopefully I'll be able to flush it out in time.

Poor micro USB cable - I do own many lower-end, cheap products and the chargers have been an odd shape that don't fit the device but I wouldn't expect LG do the same! My brand new charger doesn't even fit into my Nexus without a good wiggle and even though I own many Micro USB cables and a wireless Qi charger, I would still expect this to work out of the box.

Bluetooth audio still not compatible on Nexus devices - One thing I love using is my Pebble watch to control my music. On my Nexus 4 my Spotify track/artist details never showed up while changing tracks and the same issue remains with the Nexus 5. I have looked around and it appears that it is a hardware issue with the Nexus Bluetooth not supporting track data. There are third-party apps to get around this but it should just work natively with the pebble like an iPhone from 3-4 years ago currently does. I am pretty disappointed that LG haven't caught this up, or maybe there's something I've not seen to work around this.

But other than these couple of issues I would say that the Nexus 5 is a brilliant device. I've yet to give the camera a good run but I do have another 4 gigs coming up this month so I guess I'll definitely see how it shines where I use it most.
