Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer is calling for the community’s input on ways to create greater mobility and connectivity between places where people live, work, shop and spend their leisure time.
The request is an outgrowth of the mayor’s Vision Louisville initiative, an effort to form a plan for what the city will look like in 25 years.
Mobility was the most mentioned topic of possible priorities submitted by the general public, according to a news release.
Four public meetings have been scheduled for the week of Nov. 11, where Louisville residents can provide insights on a set of draft goals for improving the community’s connectivity.
The meetings are:
• Monday, Nov. 11, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nia Center, 2900 W. Broadway;
• Tuesday, Nov. 12, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hardscuffle Gallery, 324 E. Main St.;
• Tuesday, Nov. 12, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Valley High School, 10200 Dixie Highway;
• Wednesday, Nov. 13, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jeffersontown Community Center, 10617 Taylorsville Road.
The meetings will be the first step in the creation of MoveLouisville, a long-range strategic multimodal transportation plan for the city, the release said. The planning process will take about 10 months.
San Francisco-based Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates Inc. will lead the $750,000 planning process, the release said.
The effort is being funded through a federal grant and a local match generated by the city and Transit Authority of River City.
