The Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center has abandoned plans for a long-delayed expansion that would have doubled its convention space, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

Nashville-based Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc., which owns the Marriott-managed conference center, said the project was no longer economically feasible and last week asked to end a deal from 2008 that would have provided $80 million in tax incentives for the hotel's expansion.

Before it became known as Ryman Hospitality Properties after selling off its Gaylord brand to Marriott International, Gaylord Entertainment Co. was also pursuing new projects in Arizona and Colorado. Ryman has since backed away from those projects, though Marriott is now working with other partners to move them forward.
