Connect with DEQ

The Department of Environmental Quality encourages the public to be informed about the agency’s activities to protect Virginia’s environment. There are several ways to connect with DEQ.

Citizen Boards

Three regulatory boards, composed of Virginia citizens appointed by the Governor, are responsible for adopting Virginia’s environmental regulations. The DEQ staff administers the regulations as approved by the boards: the Air Pollution Control Board, the State Water Control Board and the Waste Management Board.

Freedom of Information Act

DEQ’s Freedom of Information Act policy establishes procedures for helping DEQ employees comply with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and to provide information to the citizens of the Commonwealth in a timely manner.

News Feeds

DEQ offers a free subscription-based service, called DEQcast, to obtain information on a variety of subjects. With DEQcast, news and public information related to DEQ is delivered directly to an email inbox or RSS reader.

News Releases

DEQ periodically issues news releases on a variety of environmental topics. The news releases are available on the DEQ website and through DEQcast.

Public Calendar

The public calendar provides information on public meetings and hearings, as well as other meetings open to the public.
