Before you go and snap up that life-sized AT-ST Walker that’s up on eBay, you better make sure your girlfriend won’t mind having it in the backyard. That’s how the thing ended up on eBay in the first place. According to Martin Fillery, the guy who owns it, his girlfriend is why it’s up for sale.

I think my girlfriend is starting to get a bit worried about me. I’ve always been a bit mad, and I love sci-fi stuff, but my spending on props is going through the roof. …The Scout Walker is amazing, but I realised pretty quickly that it was just too big to use as on stage, so I’m selling it so I can get more toys.

I wonder if his girlfriend realizes that she may have just traded the devil she knows for the devil her boyfriend has yet to purchase.

It’s not surprising that video games are once again being blamed for real-world violence, but it is surprising when a game like Minecraft is at the center of the controversy. A nine-year-old boy was sentenced to home confinement by a judge after he brought “an unloaded handgun, a magazine with six bullets inside, a steak knife and a small-handled sledge hammer,” into school.

“The boy’s father said he was playing a character he learned from the video game Minecraft,” WFTV reports.

“They use hammers to dig and knives and guns to protect themselves from zombies,” he said, according to the station.

While the father didn’t have enough good sense to prevent his child from accessing these items, at least the firing pin on the gun was removed. At any rate, it’s pretty clear that Minecraft is being used as a scapegoat for bad parenting here. Of course, “Bad Parenting Blamed For School Violence” isn’t a headline your likely to see anytime soon.

These Breaking Bad Choose Your Own Adventure Books offer up a whole new set of very adult consequences if you choose poorly. They’re the work of John Defreest and, unfortunately, are just cover mock-ups and not real books that you can actually purchase. But can’t you just imagine the choices you’d have to face? Yeah, these would definitely not be fit for the kiddos.

It’s already been announced that we are getting more Harry Potter movies with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but now there’s news on other possible spin-offs. Warner Bros. has already trademarked anything and everything for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as well as its author and main character Newt Scamander, and now they’ve snapped up some other Harry Potter titles that could be a hint at upcoming films. Bleeding Cool reports the additional trademarks include:

Tales of Beetle the Bard
Quidditch Through the Ages
Quidditch expert Kennilworthy Whisp, ‘author’ of the above book, and teams Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons, Kenmare Kestrels

Beyond confirmation that J.K. Rowling is writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts there hasn’t been any confirmation on additional films set in the universe, but those trademarks sure do make it look like we’re going to be seeing more quidditch on the big screen.

She makes these lovely little creatures in all sorts of colors and styles and sizes, along with a number of other types of dragons, ponies and other critters.

Personally, I love the Fierce Sapphire Dice Dragon. You can see him along with other versions after the break.

who rain gods

Have you ever wondered what happens when River Song and the Doctor go on a date? A newly released minisode by Neil Gaiman gives us an idea. They bicker about plans just like other couples but unlike other couples, they end up in dangerous situations with rain gods. Over at Tumblr, Gaiman explains:

For the puzzled and curious. The lost Planet of the Rain Gods sequence from THE DOCTOR’S WIFE, which was drawn by Mark Buckingham as a comic featuring the Doctor and Amy and Rory in the 2012 Doctor Who Brilliant Book, was then rewritten by me as a Doctor/River minisode for the DVD, and then that script was filmed more or less given some limitations of time and budget, does now sort of exist.

(It’s credited to Steven Moffat as writer, but then, they’ve credited me on the box as writer of The Name of the Doctor which he wrote and I didn’t, so there you go.)

It’s not even two minutes long, but it is utterly delightful to see the 11th Doctor and River together and acting like a couple. Mostly though, it makes me think about how much I’m going to miss Matt Smith’s Doctor.

Watch the short after the break.

constantine

Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics are teaming up for a third time to help develop Constantine as a television project for NBC.

The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone and Warner Bros. DC adaptation writer David S. Goyer have been announced as the creative team behind the new take on DC Comics’ John Constantine stories.

I took a look at the comments on this and Paul Bettany’s name pops up a couple of times. What do you guys think? Who’d be a good Constantine and what do you think about this new DC/WB collaboration?

grand theft auto

The physics of Grand Theft Auto V don’t always match reality. Parkour style moves can go wrong, sure, but GTA V has the runners falling in improbable and amusing fashion. So, of course, real life people take those fails and turn them into hilarity. This Vine video showcases a run in with two garbage cans. I bet you watch it at least five times.
