Farzin Rugs and Design is home to an extraordinary collection of antique Turkish rugs. In this instance, “antique” does not refer to a particular finish or method, but the age category of these exquisite creations. These particular rugs feature here in this blog, and found in their showroom, are 19th century pieces. The fact they are over 100 years old makes them antique.

One of these things is not like the other

Much like snowflakes, no two pieces are alike; they truly are unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Antique Turkish rugs are made up with more of a plethora of fun vibrant colors, and vary from open designs and more open patterns, as opposed to Persian rugs that have darker blue and red tones with fuller designs. Most Turkish rugs were hand-made for European markets. Also, title names like Oushak and Sivas point to the style of rug and from where it originated.

Retired Boat Wood's Hidden Magic

We all love second chances and stories of redemption; discovering new meaning. In this guest blog, Big Mango Trading Co. talks about upcycling old boat wood into pratical and decorative art pieces.

If one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, then that is certainly the case with boat wood. Wood salvaged from fishing boats is the source of a funky and fun “Boat Wood” line crafted by artisans in Indonesia. From decorative wall art to dining tables for 12, wood salvaged from washed up and retired boats is a unique canvas for all to enjoy. Talk about some fabulous (not to mention, colorful) upcycling.

These are just a few examples of how this wood is taken from trash to a treasured art piece.

Design Guide 5th Summer Designs and ASID Legacy of Design Awards Recap

August 26

Design Guide and Dallas Market Center co-hosted the fifth annual Summer Designs soiree at the Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart. A chic set of more than 400 guests celebrated the best of the design and the winners of the ASID Legacy of Design Awards, while enjoying light bites and Sociologie sangria.

DFW Lounge Rentals, BuyLEDs and ES Events created a contemporary-cool, color-washed space, in which guests mingled and cast their votes for their favorite designer vignette from the likes of Contempo Designs, Feizy Rugs, Hemisphere Design Gallery, Naperies, Outdoor Living and Peninsula Home Collection.
