TCOM students matched for residency

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) Class of 2011 now has a 100 percent match rate into residency or internship positions. The National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), which coordinates the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) match, placed 111 TCOM students in residency or internship positions. According to the NRMP, the number of U.S. medical school seniors matched to family medicine positions rose by 11 percent over 2010. Pediatrics and internal medicine positions also saw an increase at three percent and eight percent.

Nineteen percent of TCOM students were matched to American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved residencies, two percent matched to military residency programs and six percent matched to dual-accredited programs. Of the 158 TCOM students matched for residency, 91 are going into primary care and 81 will stay in Texas.
