UPP JOINS UNT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER

FORT WORTH, Texas—Greg Upp, a retired executive from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, has joined the University of North Texas Health Science Center as special assistant for external affairs, office of the president.

Upp is working with the health science center on its business development efforts. He has previously been involved with the institution’s development efforts as the chairman of its foundation and a member of its president’s advisory board.

"Greg has long been a supporter of the health science center," said Dr. Ronald Blanck, president. "It is only fitting that he continue to be an advocate for the institution as we strengthen our education and research programs."

Throughout his 31-year career with Southwestern Bell, Upp was involved with external affairs, marketing, and human resources. He retired in 2001 as an executive director.

A longtime Fort Worth resident, Upp remains actively involved in community activities. He is now the chairman of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. and serves on the executive committees for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Worth Promotion and Development Fund. He also serves as a board member with numerous organizations.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta.
