Wilson Joins University of North Texas Health Science Center

FernandoWilson.jpg Fernando Wilson, PhD, joined UNT Health Science Center as assistant professor in the School of Public Health.

Dr. Wilson earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Master’s of Arts degrees in economics in June 2006 from University of Chicago. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from University of Texas in December 1997. His major fields of study were in health economics, applied microeconomics and labor economics. The title of his dissertation was “Explaining the Growth of Child Obesity in the U.S.”

During his academic career, Dr. Wilson earned a University of Chicago Fellowship in 2001-02, a Ford Foundation Fellowship in 1998-2001, a National Science Foundation Minority Honorable Mention in 1998, and University Highest Honors, Liberal Arts Honors, Economics Honors and Distinguished College Honors, all in 1997.

He is originally from Greenup, Ill., and currently resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Lourdes.
