Zygmunt Gryczynski Joins UNT Health Science Center's Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

ZygmuntGrycznski.jpg Zygmunt “Karol” Gryczynski, PhD, recently joined UNT Health Science Center’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences as a professor with joint appointments in the Departments of Molecular Biology and Immunology and Cell Biology and Genetics.

Previously, Dr. Gryczynski was an associate professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland at Baltimore’s School of Medicine. He also served as assistant director of the Center for Fluorescence Spectroscopy.

Dr. Gryczynski’s areas of research include fluorescence spectroscopy, time-resolved fluorescence, fluorescence imaging, protein-protein interactions, and thermodynamics of protein-ligand interaction. Recently, his interests have focused on applications of plasmonics and nanoplasmonics to study protein binding and protein conformational changes.

A native of Poland, Dr. Gryczynski earned a master of science degree for the University of Gdansk in physics and a doctorate from the Institute of Experimental Physics at the University of Gdansk in spectroscopy.

He currently resides in Fort Worth.
