Jean Tips

Marketing and Communications

Jean Tips is vice president of Marketing and Communications for the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. Tips is the chief executive responsible for all aspects of promoting and protecting the UNT Health Science Center image and reputation. As head of the Office of Marketing and Communications, she oversees media relations, internal and external communications, publications, executive communications support, advertising, brand management, marketing collateral, web content, and event-based marketing.

Tips joined the Health Science Center in 2005 from Kaiser Permanente, where she was national director of communications in its Oakland, Calif., headquarters. Prior to her national role, Tips served as a marketing project manager in Kaiser's Northern California Division, and manager of internal, member and external communications for Kaiser's greater San Jose, Calif. business unit. Before joining Kaiser, she served as both internal communications manager and public relations manager for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, in Palo Alto, Calif.

Prior to entering the healthcare arena, she worked as a public relations director for several advertising agencies serving high technology and biotechnology companies. After graduation with Kappa Tau Alpha honors in magazine journalism from the University of Kansas, she was an editor for Runner's World magazines and books and managing editor of California Farmer Magazine.

She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Leadership Fort Worth and Harris Health Exchange. A native of El Dorado, Kan., she currently resides in Flower Mound.
