Four faculty members receive Fulbright honors

Gerald Knezek, Regents Professor of learning technologies, was awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist appointment to the University of Twente in the Netherlands in 2011-12. He conducted research and presented seminars in technology innovation and integration into educational environments.

UNT earns NSF cyber security grant

Cyber security is an important industry in the computer-driven world, and UNT is a leader in research and education. Nearly $1 million from the National Science Foundation will fund doctoral student grants to study cyber security and information assurance through a collaborative effort among UNT's engineering, business and information colleges.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services' Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program awarded the UNT Libraries and the College of Information two grants totaling more than $850,000.

Campus food cart earned two national awards for dining services, the UNT Libraries CyberCemetery website has been selected as one of the MARS Best Free Reference Web Sites of 2011 and dancing flutist and doctoral student Wayla Chambo performed at the National Flute Association convention.

President V. Lane Rawlins appointed Herman Totten to the interim position of vice president for university and community affairs this spring. Provost Warren Burggren named Linda Schamber to serve as acting dean of the College of Information.

Rural librarians’ project
