Cross-Registration Through the Federation of North Texas Area Universities


The Federation of North Texas Area Universities, established in 1968 with guidance from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, enables the sharing of resources between the University of North Texas at Denton, Texas Woman's University at Denton, and Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Students in select graduate programs at the three participating institutions may complete a portion of their graduate work at either or both of the other two, although a single institution grants the degree. The University of North Texas grants the following degrees that participate in the Federation:

  • Art – M.F.A.
  • Computer Science – M.A., M.S.
  • Counseling Psychology – Ph.D.
  • Early Childhood Studies – M.S., M.Ed., Ed.D.
  • Molecular Biology – Ph.D.
  • Reading – M.S., M.Ed., Ed.D, Ph.D.
  • Sociology – Ph.D.
  • Special Education – Ph.D.
  • In addition, 16 program committees have been formed to encourage cooperative activities between the participating universities.

      If you are a TWU or TAMU-Commerce student wishing to enroll at UNT through the Federation, please read this information and contact the appropriate Federation Representative to start the process.

        Graduate Student Research Symposium:

        The Federation is excited to announce the 4th Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium on April 26, 2013 held at TWU. Graduate students are invited to present their research, and all students, faculty and staff are invited to attend with registration.
