Phishing awareness is key to protecting email accounts

It is possible to unknowingly turn over access to your email account and all of your records simply by clicking on a link, or visiting a web page listed in a scam email. To avoid having  your email account hacked, do not click on a link unless you know it is safe.

 Most often, scam emails appear to serve an important function – telling you that your inbox is full, your password has expired, or personal information needs to be updated.

Email phishing attacks continue

Recently, we have received a number of phishing (fishing) attempts targeted at our community. The phishing attempts have been hosted on a provider called webs.com. A number of these attacks have been successful. As a result, we have had the attacker send tens of thousands of spam messages from our system to other internet addresses. We cannot let that continue because it will lead to blocks on messages from our address by the spam filters at other organizations. In order to minimize the threat to you, we are, as of today, quarantining all email messages with links to webs.com.

Service Management

ITSS has adopted ITIL® (a.k.a. ISO/IEC 20000) as the process management framework from which we will develop full Service Management capabilities. To begin, we are acquiring a cloud-based service management toolset called HEAT Cloud from FrontRange Solutions Inc. Using this toolset we will implement Incident Management in ITSS first and then with UNTD and UNTHSC.
