What is HIPPY Texas?

The HIPPY Program provides parents of preschool children throughout Texas with the opportunity and resources needed to get their young children ready to be successful in school. School districts across the state implement the HIPPY model of home visitation. In weekly meetings with their home visitors, parents learn to use the 30 week HIPPY curriculum through role playing activities they will later work on with their children. Monthly parent meetings provide socialization and classroom experiences for children and opportunities for networking, enrichment and parent education for the adults in the family. HIPPY Texas, in the College of Education at UNT, provides training, evaluation, technical assistance and fund development for HIPPY sites in Texas, as well as information to the public about school readiness and how to start up a HIPPY program in their communities. HIPPY Texas is funded by the Texas OneStar Foundation for the implementation of the AmeriCorps model of community service. Our home visitors are AmeriCorps members.
