Biography

José currently serves as the UNT College of Business’ Associate Director for Program Development for the Center for Logistics Education and Research (CLER). He began his career at UNT in 2008 as Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects. He recently served as Assistant Director of Budgets and Intramural Programs for the Vice President for Research and Economic Development.

Prior to UNT, José spent over 8 years in a design profession and over 17 years in various management roles at Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES)-Texas A&M University. He played an integral part in leading TEES from $70 million to $100 million in research funding in five years. Here at UNT he was responsible for negotiating various contracts and grants for research. One notable award was a $2 million grant from the State Energy Conservation Office to install 3 wind turbines to provide power to Apogee Stadium.

José was born and raised in Bryan –College Station, TX. He is a first generation Texas A&M University graduate with an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture in 1986 and an MBA from the Mays Business School in 2002.

José enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years and two daughters traveling, watching movies, and training with his daughters. He also enjoys music, art, muscle cars, college football, dancing, playing guitar, playing billiards, wing shooting, skeet-shooting, coaching, running and competing in triathlons.
