The Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship will be a global leader in entrepreneurship through academic programs that lead to the formation of new and innovative enterprises and creative solutions for social problems.

Workshops

Designed to stimulate creative ideas and unique approaches to being entrepreneurial, the workshops offer strategies and skills required for success. A broad range of entrepreneurial interests; including business formation, social entrepreneurship, and corporate entrepreneurship are demonstrated through the workshop series. Workshops are less than 2 hours in length and are focused on entrepreneurial execution.

 

April 2nd – Entrepreneurial Networking Mixer, BLB Atrium, 4:00 – 6:00pm

Are you looking for summer employment, internship opportunities, or full time employment?  Come mix and mingle with some of North Texas entrepreneurs and business leaders!  Please join the Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship and the UNT Career Center as we present the Entrepreneurship Employer Mixer.  Refreshments will be provided by one of the Murphy Center’s new partners.  Students – please register on the UNT Eagle Network by searching the Event ID: 1408.  For more information contact the Murphy Center at 940-565-2848.

 

April 10th – “Want To Control Your Own Destiny?  Entrepreneurship Could Be the Answer!” Graduate Workshop, BLB 140, 4:00 – 5:30pm

This workshop will outline some of the key characteristics of entrepreneurs and the opportunities for “entrepreneurial” thinkers in a wide range of careers. Participants will learn about the steps to becoming an entrepreneur and the resources available to students on the UNT campus, who want to take control of their futures. Whether you are interested in starting a company or learning about opportunities in your field of study, this workshop is for you.

 

April 18th - Be Your Own Boss

Want to be your own boss? Thought about running your own practice, label, business or even gallery? Taking a great business idea and turning it into reality can be a daunting challenge without the right information.

College Entrepreneurs and Money is an opportunity to get first hand insights from others already in the field.

Join us to learn from entrepreneurs and other professionals on what you can do today to start your own business tomorrow.

New Venture Creation Contest Info Session

The New Venture Creation Contest (NVCC) is an opportunity for new, independent student ventures to solicit start-up funds. The competition is for new ventures created, managed, and owned by UNT students. Students must have played a major role in conceiving the venture, have key management roles in the venture, and own significant equity in the venture. Up to $40,000 in total funding is awarded.

Over half of all UNT students will engage in entrepreneurship at some point in their careers. Entrepreneurship is a process for channeling creativity and innovation and can be applied to economic, social and intellectual settings. This workshop will highlight The Entrepreneurial Mindset, and will allow participants to explore entrepreneurship in their disciplines, so all students (regardless of major) are encouraged to attend. Bring your “good ideas” and we will help you chart a path to success.

This workshop is offered each semester. .

"So what can you do with that degree?": Combining Entrepreneurial Opportunities with your Philosophy Degree

This workshop, presented by Dr. Tony Mendes, focuses on the Entrepreneurial Mindset and how creative thinking can set you apart from others.

Dr. Mendes will cover the "psychology" of entrepreneurship and opportunity recognition to engage students in thinking about career options, especially creative applications for non-business degrees in corporations as well as government and non-governmental organizations.
