How to Apply

1 Submit online application at ApplyTexas by the deadline.

The application fee is $50 (fee increases to $60 for applications for Fall 2010 and after). Late applications will be accepted but a $25 late fee will be assessed during late registration for course enrollment.

2 Request official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.

Contact  the registrar’s office at each institution. Most institutions will send transcripts directly to us. Or, submit the unopened transcripts you already have using the following addresses:

By U.S. Postal Service:
UNT Graduate School
1155 Union Circle #305459
Denton, TX 76203-5017

By UPS/FedEx:
UNT Graduate School
1147 Union Circle, ESSC 354
Denton, TX 76203-5459

The transcripts must show you have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and earned the required grade point:

GPA requirement for UNT consideration:
a 2.8 GPA or higher on all undergraduate work OR
a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 undergraduate credit hours OR
a 3.4 GPA on work for any completed master’s degree.

Students with lower GPAs may be eligible for admission under certain conditions or if they are seeking a second bachelor’s degree. More information is available in the graduate catalog.

3 Submit standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, MAT, etc.) to us.

Request your score to be sent directly to UNT when you take the test. The UNT school code for the GRE is 6481.

Test requirements are program specific. Some programs will provisionally admit students who have not yet completed standardized tests.

Test scores can take up to four weeks to be sent and received by UNT. The GRE revised General Test will begin in August 2011. Learn more about this as it can affect your admissions process.

4 Submit any additional degree-specific admissions requirements directly to the department offering the degree.

These may include personal statements, letters of reference, entrance examinations, interviews, auditions, portfolios or other program-related material.
