Texas Public Health Training Center

The Texas Public Health Training Center (TPHTC) is a training resource for current and future public health workers in the State of Texas.

The Center is a partnerships between the University of Texas School of Public Health, Texas A&M University School of Rural Public Health, the University of North Texas School of Public Health, as well as local and state health departments in Texas providing competency-based training and education.

TPHTC is one of 33 Public Health Training Centers across the nation that are funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the United States Department of Health and Human Resources. Recently, TPHTC was awarded a five-year, $3.2 million grant renewal from HRSA to continue and enhance our training and education programs.

Through web-based and in-person training programs, TPHTC provided training to 4,993 public health professionals across the State of Texas in 2009. Though our focus is providing training and education to local and state health departments, our training and education is also available to, and utilized by: non-profit organizations; academic institutions; corporations, as well as other sectors; and graduate students in public health and related fields.
