Thank you for your interest in the School of Health Professions.

The School of Health Professions was approved by the University of North Texas System Board of Regents on May 20, 2004 and subsequently approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on July 8, 2004.

The School of Health Professions provides opportunities for a diverse student body to obtain the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to serve in the health care professions and to continue their development throughout their professional careers.

The School of Health Professions presently includes two academic departments, the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and the Department of Physical Therapy.

Careers as either a physician assistant or a physical therapist are among the most rewarding and needed of all the health care professions. Individuals serving in these careers have challenging and satisfying careers while enjoying considerable flexibility in their choice of practice and working conditions. Classes in both programs include inter-professional experiences designed to prepare students to be contributing members of the healthcare team.

Additional information regarding our programs in Physician Assistant Studies and Physical Therapy can be found on this website as it is available.

I look forward to the future of the School of Health Professions reaching its full potential within the vibrant new horizons at UNT Health Science Center. Our goal is to develop health professions programs that are nationally ranked in the Top 10.

Again, thank you for your interest in the School of Health Professions.

Sincerely,
Claire Peel, PT, PhD, FAPTA
Dean, School of Health Professions
