Admission to UNT Graduate School:

Applicants who already have another Master's may work toward the Principal Certificate without earning a Master's in Educational Leadership. Certification-only applicants must submit the graduate school application and all college/university transcripts. Applicants submit the program application to the program office (the supervisor's letter of recommendation, essay, and resume are not necessary for certification-only applicants).

Successful applicant profiles

Successful applicants demonstrate the potential for leadership as reflected in the supervisor's letter of recommendation, the essay, and the resume. Applicants demonstrate their writing skills in the essay and resume. In addition, the application process considers an applicant's ability to work in diverse educational environments.

Funding opportunities in program

Graduate Scholarships are offered through the Department of Teacher Education and Administration. Generally, these scholarships are for students who are already enrolled. Applicants can also learn about financial aid and scholarships by accessing financialaid.unt.edu.

  • If no EDAD minor, must take 15 EDAD hours. Teaching certificate and experience.
  • Prepare and present a Portfolio with 7 items included (see program for details).
  • Written admissions exam may be requested.
