Q: I am being asked to enter an advising code. How do I get my code?

A: If you are on alert, probation, or suspension status, you are required to meet with your advisor in person to get your code. Advisors will not give out codes over the phone or via email. If you are a new student, you will need to attend orientation to get your code.

Q: I am getting a message that says I do not have a valid registration appointment. What does that mean?

A: You are getting this message because it is not your time to register. Please check the Registration Calendar to find out your correct registration date.

Q: I am getting a message that says “Maximum Term Unit Load Exceeded.” What does that mean?

A: You are trying to register for more than maximum allowed course load for the semester. You will need to contact an advisor to obtain approval to take more than 19 hours in fall or spring and 12 hours in summer.

Q: I’m getting a message that says “Requirement Not Met.” What does that mean?

A: You are trying to register for a course for which you have not met a prerequisite. To find out the prerequisites for courses, you will need to consult the Course Descriptions section of the Catalog. Please note that if you are a transfer student and have credit for the prerequisite from another institution, you may need to talk to the department that teaches the course to be added into the class.

Q: How can I get into a class that is full?

A: Advisors cannot get you into these classes. You need to contact the department that teaches the class. E.g., If you are trying to get into a closed section of a CSCE course, you need to contact the Computer Science and Engineering department.

Q: How can I find out what courses are offered online?

A: Online courses are listed with the location “INET” in the Schedule of Classes. You can also browse offerings by visiting the UNT eCampus Website and clicking on “Browse Courses”.

Q: I’m having trouble registering for a lab and/or recitation for a class. What should I do?

A: You need to contact the department that teaches the course for help registering for your lab and recitation. Ex.: If you are trying to register for CHEM 1410/30 recitations and are having difficulties, you need to contact the Chemistry department.
