Semiconductor Research Corporation funds microchip fabrication research

Oliver Chyan, professor of chemistry, was awarded a grant of nearly $130,000 from the Semiconductor Research Corporation in cooperation with Intel to create and implement new tools for microchip fabrication.

UNT receives Green Ribbon Awards for sustainable construction

The power managment SMART project and Apogee Stadium wind turbines won Green Ribbon Awards at the U.S. Green Building Council North Texas Gala. The projects are examples of UNT’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and operate efficiently.

Counseling program ranked tops in Texas, 13th in nation

U.S. News and World Report magazine ranked UNT’s counseling program in the College of Education as 13th in the nation, making it top-ranked in Texas. Earlier this year the College of Education was ranked 13th in the nation for Best Online Graduate Education Programs.

TAMS students named 2013 Goldwater Scholars

Kevin Chen and Helen Xiong have received the awards, one of the country’s most prestigious scholarships for students studying math, science and engineering.

Corinne Marie Zimmerly Marquis Freeman, former art faculty

Corinne Marie Zimmerly Marquis Freeman, 93, taught art and served as a sponsor of Kappa Delta sorority.

Lorna Owens Francis, instructor, School of Fine Arts

Lorna Owens Francis, 81, died April 9. She lived and traveled in India and Europe and her work was displayed in a U.S. Department of State exhibit in Sumatra. She taught at UNT from 1969 to 1976.

C. Steven Cole, professor of finance, insurance, real estate and law

A casual, come-and-go memorial for Steve Cole will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 27 in the Business Leadership Building Atrium. Cole died March 16 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
