Profile

Francisco is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of North Texas. He studied Economics and a Masters in Public Policy at ITAM (Mexico), as well as a Masters in Marketing Management in ESADE (Spain). He got his Ph.D. in Management Sciences at Universitat Ramon Llull-ESADE in Barcelona. He worked as the Marketing Director for the Mexican National Sports Commission (CONADE) being in charge, among other things, of CIMA’s (the Mexican Olympic Team) marketing program. He worked as an academic assistant at ESADE Business School and as an assistant professor at Monterrey Tec before coming to UNT, where he teaches Marketing, Brand Management, New Product Development, and Consumer Behavior.

Academic Interests

His research focuses on branding towards social values and branding and sustainability; particularly on public-private collaborations, sponsorships, corporate social responsibility, green marketing, and strategic corporate brand building. His research has appeared in a range of journals such as the Journal of International Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Political Marketing, and Harvard Business Review América Latina, among others. Francisco has guest-edited special issues of the Journal of Business Research on cross-cultural research and the Journal of Product and Brand Management on brands as intangible assets.

Non-Academic Interests

Francisco is a music and sports enthusiast. He is an active triathlete and marathon runner. He has completed multiple Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons setting his PB at the Texasman Triathlon with a time of 2:12:49. He has also completed 8 half ironmans, and a full ironman in 2010. He has run 22 marathons all around the World with a PB of 2:49.56 in the 2004 Barcelona Marathon.
