Biography

Dr. Richard White is a Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management in the Management Department. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration (Operations and Logistics) from Arizona State University in 1990. Prior to returning to academia, he was in business for approximately 16 years, holding various positions in engineering, engineering management, and plant management. His last five+ years in business were in the position of plant manager for AMOCO (Standard Oil of Indiana).

Dr. White's research interests are in the areas of World-Class (Lean) Manufacturing applications in U.S. organizations and application of new technologies in small businesses and the supply-chain. His research papers have been published in a number of journals, including Management Science, Academy of Management Journal, Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, among others. He has presented his research at national meetings of the Academy of Management and Decision Sciences Institute. Professor White, along with John N. Pearson, is one of the coauthors of Operations and Logistics Management: Selected Readings, 1989 and Operations and Logistics Management, 1990. Professor White is also the author of Production and Operations Management: An Overview, 1993.

In addition to teaching and developing the operations courses (BBA, MBA, and Ph.D.) Dr. White has taught Executive MBA courses, Study Abroad courses and he has participated (Team of 15 Texas Faculty) in curriculum development of business courses at the University of Nuevo Leon (Monterrey), Mexico.

He is a member of the Academy of Management, Decision Sciences Institute, Production Operations Society, Institute for Supply Management, and American Production and Inventory Control Society.

Dr. Richard E. White, Professor of Operations Management in the Department of Management, College of Business Administration at the University of North Texas, served as Associate Dean in the College of Business Administration for three and half years during the colleges 1998 AACSB reaccredidation effort.
