DNA experts at the UNT Health Science Center will help train Libyan scientists to analyze the remains of an estimated 20,000 people found in mass graves in Libya following the uprising of 2011, in an effort to identify them.

Moving story of a murder solved is highlight of Center for Forensic Excellence’s opening

After 22-year-old Katie Sepich was murdered in 2003, it took more than three years to find her killer. His DNA was collected from the murder scene, and he was arrested for other violent crimes, but he was not required to give a DNA sample that would have implicated him in the murder.
