Community Emergency Response Team

http://emergency.unt.edu/images/uploads/cert_logo_lg.gifCommunication failures, road blockages, power outages and other structural and utility damage may prevent citizens from receiving emergency services following a disaster. First Responders and medical personnel are not always able to meet the high demands that a disaster imposes, which is why it is critical for each and every citizen to be trained and prepared to meet immediate life sustaining needs.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of trained volunteers who assists their community during the response and recovery of a disaster. Seminars provided by CERT help to ensure citizens are prepared to respond to, and cope with the aftermath of a disaster. Fire Rehab, CPR/AED, First Aid, search techniques for missing children and adults, as well as specialized training in Storm Spotting and Ham Radio Operation are several examples of training opportunities available.

CERT Teams are a part of many local area jurisdictions. For more information on orientation and training dates, please contact your local CERT Team.
