Featured Resource: SPORTDiscus

Researchers, when was the last time you went beyond a MEDLINE search? Lewis Library offers a number of specialty databases that may open new doors for you, or at least get you to the same results more efficiently. SPORTDiscus is one example; it covers a wide range of disciplines related to sports and fitness, including:

- sports medicine;
- kinesiology;
- biomechanics;
- movement science;
- physical therapy; and
- occupational health.

SPORTDiscus contains more than 1.5 million records about articles in journals and magazines; books, book chapters, and book reviews; conference proceedings; theses and dissertations; and websites. Coverage is international, including references to articles in more than 60 languages, and references date as far back as the early 1800s. Records from several other databases have been integrated, including those of the library catalogue of the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles (AAFLA), the Spanish-language ATLANTES database, France’s HERACLES database, and the Olympic Museum database.

Lewis Library provides SPORTDiscus on the EBSCOHost platform, which means that you can search it separately or in combination with numerous other databases. Either way, you can take advantage of EBSCOHost's cutting-edge features such as pop-up abstracts, faceted search results, and RSS feeds.
