P.R.I.N.T at SGCI's Publish or Perish

Thank you to Rich Gere and Holly Greenberg for organizing Publish or Perish at the Marcia Wood Gallery in conjunction with the Southern Graphics Council International print conference in Atlanta, Georgia! The exhibition featured prints from University Master Printing/Collaborative Workshops, including Small Craft Advisory Press – Florida State University, Full Court Press – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Lake Effect Editions – Syracuse University, P.R.I.N.T. – Print Research Institute of North Texas – University of North Texas.

Thank you to Rich Gere and to Dusty Herbig, Rich Gere, Ryan O'Malley, Denise Bookwalter, and Jack-Arthur Wood Jr. for all your hard work putting together the show!

Rich Gere also chaired a panel discussion at Kennesaw State University exploring how several programs across the country develop and manage these resources, goals for the collectives, publishing and how these projects align with department and university initiatives. Panelists included Denise Bookwalter, Dusty Herbig, and Ryan O'Malley.

Dir. Lari Gibbons at MAPC

Work by Director Lari Gibbons was included in an exchange portfolio curated by Nicole Hand for the 2016 Mid America Print Council conference at Indiana University Southeast. Entitled Visual Elegy, the project asked participants to create an original print in response to bell hooks’ recent book, Appalachian Elegy. bell hooks is an acclaimed social activist, feminist theorist, artist, and native Kentuckian.

Visual Elegy has also been shown at Murray Art Guild (Murray, KY) and the Yeiser Art Center (Paducah, Kentucky).

Spring 2016 season

Open House Thursday, April 7 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at P.R.I.N.T Press
Linda Ridgway and Katherine Brimberry will collaborate to produce hand-pulled fine art prints and deliver lectures to students and the general public. Read more about it here.

New Prints
Susan Goethel Campbell produced a fine art limited-edition woodblock print Aerial: Other Cities #9 for our Second Annual Subscription in fall 2015. She also participated in UNT Art Gallery's exhibition Permanence, Impermanence and worked in UNT's Dye Garden.

Sedrick Huckaby worked with Master Printer Brian Garner and Printmaking students to produce a fine art limited-edition lithograph titled American Dad in spring 2015.

John Risseeuw recently finished a series of prints Big Eyes working with P.R.I.N.T.

Kiki Smith worked with Master Printer Catherine Chauvin, P.R.I.N.T staff and Printmaking students to produce Standing and Leap Year, two suites of hand-pulled, limited edition fine art prints. She also had a solo exhibition Seed at UNT ArtSpace Dallas. Kiki's residency was made possible in part by the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.


Shop Hours
We open Tuesday, January 19, 2016 for the spring semester. In spring 2016 we are staffed Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Tuesdays from 9:00 am to noon. P.R.I.N.T is closed on Monday, January 18 for MLK Jr. Day; Monday, March 14 to Sunday, March 20 for spring break; and and all other university holidays and closures.

Seed: exhibition catalogue


P.R.I.N.T, UNT Art Galleries, and Institute for the Advancement of the Arts is proud to release "Seed: Leap Year and Standing," a catalogue to accompany the exhibition at UNT ArtSpace Dallas.

The show featured prints created while Kiki Smith was in residence at UNT through the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

Exhibition features Kiki Smith's prints

UNT ArtSpace Dallas is hosting Kiki Smith: Seed, an exhibition that includes two series by the internationally renowned artist during her residency at the University of North Texas' Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

The show runs Oct. 17 - Nov. 14. Gallery hours are 5-8 p.m. Thursdays; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Her work is realized in several formats, including installation, video, prints and drawings, as well as projects that engage communities to look at local and global environments. Campbell earned an MFA in printmaking from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad, including The Drawing Center and The International Print Center in New York. Campbell has been awarded printmaking residencies at the Flemish Center for Graphic Arts in Kasterlee, Belgium and the Beisinghoff printmaking residency near Kassel Germany.

This exhibition showcases recent collaborations with accomplished artists, many of whom do not typically work in printmaking. These artists worked at the press with Master Printers to translate their ideas into limited edition, hand-pulled fine art prints.

The show also includes the inaugural work from P.R.I.N.T's new Annual Printmaker Subscription program, which supports residencies in which emerging and renowned printmakers publish works at P.R.I.N.T.

Upcoming IFPDA Print Fair

Several artists who have worked at P.R.I.N.T Press will be represented by their galleries at the upcoming IFPDA Print Fair in New York from November 5 – 9, 2014.

Entitled PRINT Texas Monoprint 29, this monoprint was featured at Carl Solway's booth at the 2013 IFPDA Print Fair. It was printed by Master Printer Jon Lee at P.R.I.N.T in 2012.

P.R.I.N.T at MAPC 2014

Work published by P.R.I.N.T is featured in the exhibition Impressed at The Alfred Berkowitz Gallery in Dearborn, Michigan from September 5 to 26, 2014.

A closing reception will take place September 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in conjunction with the Mid America Print Council 2014 Biennial Conference at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. There will be free shuttles taking attendees to all galleries participating in MAPC's Gallery Crawl. Join us there!

The exhibition celebrates the release of the book American Printmakers, written by Ashley Rooney and Stephanie Standish and released by Schiffer Publishing. The book showcases notable presses and printmakers in America.

P.R.I.N.T Press at Flatbed Contemporary Print Fair

P.R.I.N.T Press participated in the inaugural Flatbed Contemporary Print Fair from February 14 – 15 in Austin, Texas. The fair is part of PrintAustin, a month-long event celebrating fine art printmaking.
