Core Drawing Lecture:  Hollis Hammonds
Monday, April 11th.
Sage 116, noon & 1pm

Hollis Hammonds creates a range of work from detailed drawings to sculptural installations. Her work often illustrates imaginary piles of debris left after fictional disasters. Questioning consumerist culture through evidence of accumulation, hoarding and collecting, excessive trash fills her work. Working in series, her works float back and forth between reality and fantasy.

Hammonds received her MFA from the University of Cincinnati, and she is the current Chair of the Department of Visual Studies at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX. Her work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. including solo exhibitions at Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, SC; the Reed Gallery at the University of Cincinnati in OH; the Museum of Art at Southern Mississippi University, and at Women and Their Work gallery in Austin, TX.
