"I learned at that crucial time in my life - you never look back," said Abbott. "I never have looked back, about the events that transpired that put me in the wheelchair, and ever since then, I never look back at anything. I look forward, and that's the way my campaign will be run."

- The Dallas Police Department on Monday revealed two more ways they plan to use social media. The first platform is a new blog called The DPD Beat, which will contain everything found on existing social media outlets. - U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is recommending billions of dollars in cuts to the military in an effort to balance its budget. Military pay and benefits will also be trimmed, according to Pentagon officials, but it's unlikely there would be any reduction in current pay scales or benefits already in place.

"You're basically stuck," said longtime resident Alice Cuellar.
