January 2012 - Wayne Strickland, Manager of Product and Program Management represented NTIS at the American Library Association's Mid-Winter Conference. The NTIS presentation was regarding the Federal Science Repository Service (FSRS) and consisted of 30 slides, with information related to the National Technical Reports Library and the NOAA Deepwater Horizon Project included as representative of the success of the FSRS, and the impact it has made to the library community.
Shipping via FedEx International Priority® for all International Demand Orders Now Standard
February 9, 2012 - At no additional costs to our International customers, NTIS is now shipping all demand orders using FedEx International Priority® service. This service offers the FedEx® reliability and timeliness our International customers require. NTIS offers products in a variety of media formats which involve different reproduction/manufacturing timeframes. The delivery timeframe of demand orders is dependent upon the media format selected. Because most demand orders involve custom-reproduction the delivery timeframe will vary. However most International demand orders are now typically delivered within 14-21 business days. This decrease in the turn-around time of International demand order delivery represents the commitment we have made to our International customers by providing an efficient and effective standard delivery service.
June 2011 - Don Hagen, Associate Director of the Office of Product Management and Acquisition, presentation to the Special Libraries Association 2011 Annual Conference. As a member of the panel on New Forms of Scholarly Communications in the Sciences, Don presented "NTIS Focus on Science and Data: Open and Sustainable Models for Science Information Discovery".
December 2010 - The National Archives and Records Administration and the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) have entered into an agreement ensuring long-term preservation and access to the NTIS collection of authenticated and secured digital scientific, technical, and engineering information (STEI). The results of this agreement will have a positive impact on the public, academia, corporations and federal, state, and local government agencies.
