Fernando Burbano

Mr. Fernando Burbano has served as the Associate Commissioner for the Office of Technology and Survey Processing (OTSP) of BLS since 2004. Mr. Burbano directs nationwide the design, development, operation and maintenance of all BLS Information Technology (IT) investments to produce and disseminate some of the nation's most sensitive and important economic statistics.

Prior to this , Mr. Burbano served as Senior Advisor, IT/Homeland Security, for the U.S. Department of State (2002-2004), Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of State (1998-2002), Director, Office of Computer/Communications Systems for the National Library of Medicine/National Institutes of Health (1993-1998), Director, Office of Information Resources Management for the US Peace Corps (1990-1993) and as Vice President of Technical Services for Advanced Management, Inc. (1987-1990).

Mr. Burbano holds a B.A. in Applied Behavior Science and Information Systems from National Louis University, an M.S. in Information Resources Management from Syracuse University, and a Master of Public Administration from American University.
