OUTREACH AND EDUCATION

Water Jeopardy

USGS Surface-Water Field Trip with Students.

USGS Montana Water Science Center employees visit with children and adults to provide information about water, geology, and other earth science topics.  Our outreach activities range from visiting classrooms to making presentations at conferences.  We can tailor our outreach to be appropriate for the age group and interest.

If you are an educator, festival/conference organizer, or an earth-science agency in need of training, we would be glad to share our knowledge about water and earth science with your class, festival, or agency.  We also have posters, factsheets, and other materials available for use by teachers or for adult reference.

(E.A.R.T.H) Action!

Water Jeopardy

USGS at Montana State Capitol for EARTH Action.

On October 24, 2008, Joanna Thamke, Kim Schierenbeck (not pictured), and Don Bischoff, participated in an event called Environmental Awareness and Response Through Human (EARTH) Action! that was held on the lawn at the State of Montana Capitol in Helena. This event was sponsored by the PEAK Program of the Helena School District. Many students, their parents, and people from around the community attended the event.  Numerous USGS outreach posters and Fact Sheets were passed out to attendees as they visited the USGS display table.  Of special interest to attendees was a live display of the Price AA current meter with a digital counter.
