About the Rhode Island OfficeUSGS New England Water Science Center is one of many Water Science Centers in the Water Resources Discipline of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The Water Science Center's mission is to collect, analyze and disseminate reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural hazards; and manage water resources for the people of the United States and the State of Rhode Island. The RI Office has a long history of excellence in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of hydrologic and related data. By providing relevant water data and interpretation when and where it is needed, the RI Office has successfully helped water managers at the national, state and local level to achieve their management goals in addressing the critical water issues of Rhode Island.
