Passports
GENERAL PASSPORT INFORMATION
All passport services require an appointment. The American Citizens Services Unit assists American citizens with the following passport services:
- Adult First Time Passport Applications
- Adult Passport Renewals
- Minor Passport Applications (First Time & Renewals)
- Adding Extra Visa Pages to Your Passport
- Amendments to Your Passport

New passports are delivered by a messenger service to addresses within Mexico as indicated on the application for a nominal charge payable upon delivery.
Passports are generally delivered within 3 weeks of the time of application, though this can vary depending on the particular case.
Appointments
Appointments are required for all passport services. You must bring your completed passport application form and other required documents to your appointment.
The documents required depend on if it is a passport for a minor, first time adult application, or an adult passport renewal. You must arrive at the Embassy 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to precede through the Embassy's security processes.

American citizens who have lost their passport and have emergency travel needs may appear at the Embassy any business day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. without an appointment. Applicants requesting an emergency passport will be required to provide proof of immediate travel plans. Otherwise, an appointment is needed for all non-emergency passport applications.

Emergency Passports

If you require an immediate passport due to a lost/stolen passport or impending travel in the next 10 days, please visit us at the Embassy (Reforma 305, Mexico City) from 8:00 to 11:00 from Monday to Friday. For impending travel, you must provide proof of travel.
Passport Delivery

Once a passport or report of birth abroad is issued by the Embassy, the passport or report will be delivered to the U.S. citizen through a courier service. Read more about this service.
