Occupational Health Services
Worksite Visits

Worksite visits (WSV) are considered a standard part of a comprehensive, prevention-based occupational medical program. Staff from HPMC OMS conduct visits to Hanford worksites on a regular basis.

Why do we conduct worksite visits?
    • We are able to provide more effective patient care and improved communication with contractors by becoming more familiar with the work activities, environment, and potential hazards.
    • To observe work areas from a medical perspective in support of employer hazard assessment efforts.
    • To provide medical recommendations to management in support of worker health and safety.

What can the contractor expect during the WSV?
    • HPMC OMS providers will talk with workers, supervisors and managers during the visit regarding job duties, job injuries, exposures, physical job demands, and any concerns.
    • Observation of actual work activities if possible.
    • Worksite exposures and physical job demands will be compared to the representative EJTAs.
    • You will have the opportunity to complete a short survey commenting on the worksite visit. Your feedback helps us better understand your needs for the worksite visit program.

What can the contractor expect following the Worksite Visit?
    • You will receive a worksite visit report that summarizes the visit and may include recommendations.

Worksite visits fulfill contract and 10 CFR 851 Worker Safety and Health Program requirements. In addition, worksite visits can be incorporated as part of your Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).

HPMC OMS worksite visits are not for external groups wishing to visit or tour the Hanford Site. See http://www.hanford.gov/page.cfm/HanfordSiteTours for more information on visiting Hanford.
