Diabetes and Your Heart

If you have diabetes, it’s important to take care of your heart. Having diabetes means you are more likely to have a heart attack or a stroke – but it doesn’t have to. Research has shown that people with diabetes can lower their risk for heart disease and other heart problems by managing their ABCs of diabetes – A1C, Blood pressure, Cholesterol – and stopping smoking.

Check out NDEP’s infographic below to find out more about the ABCs of diabetes and how diabetes affects your heart. The National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse also has helpful information about diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
