Abstract: To provide the user with a general idea of areas where the final critical habitat for Whooping crane (Grus americana) occur based on the description provided in the Federal Register. The geographic extent includes Barton, Rena, Rice and Stafford counties in Kansas ; Adams, Buffalo, Dawson, Hall, Kearny and Phelps counties in Nebraska ; Alfalfa county, Oklahoma ; and Aransas, Calhoun and Refugio counties in Texas. Purpose: Critical habitat are areas considered essential for the conservation of a listed species. These areas provide notice to the public and land managers the importance of these areas to the conservation of this species. Special protections and/or restrictions are possible in areas where federal funding, permits, licenses, authorizations, or actions occur or are required.
