According to NOAA scientists, the globally-averaged annual combined land and ocean surface temperature in 2012 was 1.03°F (0.57°C) above the 20th-century average of 57.0°F (13.9°C). According to NOAA's National Climatic Data Center, the average temperature for the contiguous United States during the winter season (December 2012–February 2013) was 34.3°F, 1.9°F above the 20th century average. This winter season was the 20th warmest on record. - read more »
