Hours of Sunshine
and Percent of Possible Sunshine
The hours of sun graphics represent the total hours of sunshine expected for each of the next two days. The percent of total possible sunshine represent the ratio of expected sunshine to the amount of sunshine that would occur if it were totally clear for the entire daylight period. For example, if the time between sunrise and sunset is 12 hours, then 12 hours of sunshine are possible for the day. If the forecast called for 9 hours of sunshine, then the percent of total possible sunshine would be 9 divided by 12 or 75%.
