Fraudulent Highway Contractor Gets 5 Years Imprisonments, $18,000 Fine

Summary
Kermit Bunn, president of Bunn Construction Company, was sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment and fined $18,000 for fraud against the Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program on five FHWA-funded subcontract projects in West Virginia. Bunn also was convicted of obstruction of justice in U.S. District Court in Wheeling, WV, for threatening the OIG special agent investigating the case. OIG investigated the case with the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
