The following question was asked by a Requirements Community member via email:

I'm a little confused on the existence of and requirements for DAU certification in Requirements Management.

I have already taken the courses listed at https://acc.dau.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=229220&lang=en-US

But then there are additional courses listed on https://acc.dau.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=164244 And Requirements Management doesn't appear at all on the DAU certification page at http://icatalog.dau.mil/onlinecatalog/CareerLvl.aspx#.

Is there such a thing as being certified in Requirements Management and, if there is, where can I find the requirements to be certified at different levels??

This answer is from Matthew Ghormley, Requirements Department, DAU:

Pls take a look at the link provided below. Any / all information wrt the Requirements Curriculum and certification standards can be found w/in the Requirements Landing Page (Gateway). With that said, it falls on your particular component (Army, Navy, Air Force, etc) to provide you with the actual, official, Requirements Certification. Government employees and Contractors fall into two (2) separate categories when taking the resident courses offered here at DAU. Any government or defense contractor may accomplish our online training ie. CLR 101, RQM110, LOG 101, ACQ 101, etc. However, per 10 USC, Ch. 87 -- Defense Acquisition Workforce (the Requirements
Workforce is found therein as a sub-community of DAW), contractor may only accomplish DAU resident courses as

    Ch. 87 Verbiage:
"Priority 9 status students -- 'Walk-Ins'. Walk-in students who are on an official course wait list were added only after verification that all course pre-requisites had been completed (see your CAR for being added to a course's official wait list). Walk-in students NOT on the course wait list will be required to provide documentation citing successful completion of prerequisite DAU course(s). Walk-in students who do not provide appropriate documentation will not be admitted to the course. Appropriate documentation includes
    either/or:
    1. Copy of student's DAU transcript
    2. Official DAU Course completion certificates for all pre-requisites"

If you are a government employee, you will need to contact your Component Appointed Representative (see JCIDS Manual, Enclosure 'H' for details) to request admission into the DAU resident courses.

Lastly, back to your original question below..."is there such think as being 'requirements certified'." Answer: Yes; however, the certification is not analogous to a Defense Acquisition Workforce certification. Our Requirements Certification is considered to be 'Training Other-Than' the required courses for DAW Levels I, II, III, certification. Your actual, no-kidding, certification will come from your component (if a government employee). If you are not a government employee, you can't get certified...unfortunately.
You can accomplish all online training and print the certificates of
completion. For government employees, accomplishing the DAU Requirements courses is only but a 'portion' of their overall certification requirements. Each Service has differing standards for becoming levels A, B, or C.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with further discussion.

    Best
    Matt
